Faux Acid Water Based Acrylic Finish

ACRYLIC FINISH/WATER BASED
31-XX

Faux acid is a water based, hybrid acrylic, non-yellowing " Antiquing " glaze, utilizing transparent oxide pigments for highlighting and antiquing of impressioned concrete, spray deck and concrete masonry floors and simulated stone. FAUX ACID will leave a mottled or variegated effect on the surface similar to acid stains, without the toxic qualities associated with acid systems. Available in transparent red, yellow, and black as well as a clear and pigmented tintable base for use with universal tints. FAUX ACID will add character to old and new interior and exterior floors by accenting and blending defects and shade differences of the surface.

Preparation:

( IMPRESSIONED CONCRETE )- New installation only, do not use to refinish existing surfaces. Surface must be clean, dry and free from all release agents and sealers. The pH of the surface should be 11.0 or less.

CAUTION: MAY NOT ADHERE TO SOME TYPES OF COLOR HARDENERS, A TEST PATCH IS RECOMMENDED TO INSURE COMPATIBILITY

( SPRAY DECK )- New installation, surface must be clean , dry, and free from all contaminants. The pH of the surface should be 11.0 or less.

( CONCRETE )- For new floors, wait 4-6 weeks or until most moisture is out of the concrete before sealing BARE CONCRETE FLOORS must be acid etched with a 25% solution of muriatic acid and water until a dull, sandpaper like ( 120-220 grit ) like feel is achieved. Surface grinding or planing may be used in lieu of acid etching. The surface must be free from dirt, grease and mildew. Scrub with detergent or treat with bleach a is needed and rinse thoroughly. All surfaces must be clean, dry and porous

Application:

DO NOT APPLY if rain or heavy dew are forecast within 24 hours of application. Moisture will cause the coating to “blush”
if not fully cured before exposure. Low temperatures and or high humidity will lengthen cure time.

APPLY WITH pump sprayer, airless sprayer, roller or brush. Best results are obtained by spray. Apply the material in one
wet coat allowing the material to run into  the texture, additional colors may be applied wet on wet to allow for color bleeding,
or wet on dry for sharper color separation. Allow to dry a minimum of 8 hours before top coating with TUF-TOP Crystal
Seal for interior applications, and TUF-TOP CHATTAHOOCHEE SEALER, SILICONE ACRYLIC CLEAR OR PAVER
335 for exterior or interior surfaces.

NOT RECOMMENDED AS A STAND ALONE FINISH. a CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED FOR DURABILITY!

Drying Time:

Normally dries in 1-3 hours and can be re-coated after 6-8 hours drying. Low temperatures and high humidity can extend
drying and curing time.

Limitations:
  • FOR USE over bare concrete and masonry surfaces only, product will not adhere satisfactorily to previous coatings.
  • DO NOT APPLYB when air or surface temperatures are below 50 degrees Fahrenheit ( 10 C ) or are expected to fall there before coating can dry.
  • Do not apply to a wet or damp surface.
  • Do not apply when it may rain or if dew may condense on the surface before the glaze will have a chance to dry.

CAUTION: THIS IS A GLOSSY SYSTEM AND IT WILL GET SLICK WHEN WET. IF THE SURFACE HAS NOT ALREADY BEEN TREATED TO REDUCE SLIP HAZARDS, TUF-TOP RHINO HIDE SKID RESISTANT MATERIAL, SAND, OR ANY GRITTY MATERIAL SHOULD BE ADDED TO THIS PRODUCT BEFORE OR DURING APPLICATION TO REDUCE THIS CONDITION. IT IS THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OWNER OR APPLICATOR TO DETERMINE THE SUITABILITY AND SAFETY OF APPLYING THIS PRODUCT IN AREAS OF PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC
