TUF-TOP Crystal Seal is a water-borne, non-blushing, non-yellowing, super acrylic "CLEAR" coating for glazing and sealing painted walks and driveways, as well as bare concrete areas. Unlike other water-based clears, CRYSTAL SEAL will NOT get a white blush when wet ( an overnight cure is needed to achieve this special property). Other water-based sealers get an ugly, milky, or hazy look when wet, but not CRYSTAL SEAL.
Crystal Seal continues to harden and cure for 7-10 days after application to provide a much harder, tougher, longer lasting finish than conventional water-based coatings and even most solvent-based sealers. In most exterior applications, CRYSTAL SEAL will last over one year without yellowing or loosing it's gloss. CRYSTAL SEAL may be tinted with up to 2 fl .oz. per gallon with universal tints to achieve a mottled or translucent effect over bare concrete or compatible coatings.

Preparation:

STAINED OR PAINTED DRIVEWAYS AND WALKS - works very well over TUF-TOP WATER BASED CONCRETE FLOOR AND DRIVEWAY ENAMELS to give a final high gloss and enable better gas and chemical resistance. Over new TUF-TOP simply wait until the paint is dry (2-6 hours depending on weather) before painting. CRYSTAL SEAL works over most other acrylic and other single package stains - simply wait a few hours after the coating has dried to apply. For older painted surfaces, remove dirt and grease with detergent, scrub and rinse thoroughly. All surfaces must be clean and dry. CRYSTAL SEAL will adhere to most stains that are old and weathered, but may not adhere to polyurethanes, silicone modified coatings or epoxies. Contact the previous installer to find out what type of stain was used or try a test area. Call your dealer or TUF-TOP for help if uncertain.

Application:

CONCRETE FINISH COAT - Apply with roller, brush, airless or conventional type sprayer. For most applications two "thin" coats are preferred. Apply first coat, allow to dry (2-4 hours depending on weather) and apply second coat. For best results do not dilute with water. Allow overnight drying for light foot traffic and 48 hours before driving on.

STAINED OR PAINTED DRIVEWAYS AND WALKS - Same as "Concrete" Applications.

WAREHOUSE AND GARAGE FLOORS - Same as "Concrete" application.

Limitations:
  • DO NOT APPLY when air or surface temperatures are below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, ( 10 C ), or are expected to fall there before coating will have a chance to dry.
  • DO NOT APPLY to wet or damp surfaces.
  • MAY NOT ADHERE to some alkyd, urethane, or silicone modified coatings.
  • DO NOT APPLY when it may rain or if dew may condense on the surface before CRYSTAL SEAL will have a chance to dry.
  • DO NOT ALLOW to freeze. Store above 32 degrees Fahrenheit ( 0 C).
  • APPLY IN THIN COATS ONLY, OVER APPLICATION MAY RESULT IN EXTENDED DRY TIMES, BLUSHING, OR POOR DURABILITY.
  • DO NOT APPLY to wet or damp surfaces.

Drying Time:

Normally dries in 2-4 hours and cures in 24-48 hours. Low temperatures and high humidity can extend drying/curing time.
