Preparation:

NEW OR UNPAINTED CONCRETE - Make sure that concrete is sound and not crumbling. Dirt oil, grease, mold, mildew, and any other contaminants must be removed from the surface and pores of the concrete to insure that the paint has good contact with the concrete. Remove oil, grease, etc. from the surface with strong detergent, TSP, or degreasers and rinse thoroughly. Kill all mold, mildew, and algae with bleach and rinse thoroughly. It is often advisable to pressure wash the surface to insure complete removal of the contaminants. Slick or smoothly toweled bare concrete surfaces must be etched with a 10% muriatic acid solution until the pores of the concrete are opened up and a 120 grit sand-paper like feel is achieved. Acid must be washed off thoroughly after application. DO NOT ACID ETC OLD COATINGS

OVER OLD PAINT - May be applied over most paints if they are firmly bonded to the surface. Make sure they are free from any contaminants. Follow cleaning instructions for new concrete. TUF-TOP may not adhere satisfactory to some epoxies, alkyds, polyurethane's, and silicate sealers. If uncertain, apply test patch of TUF-TOP and check adhesion there is an adhesion problem and TUF-TOP should not be used.

Application:

NEW OR UNPAINTED CONCRETE - Apply with roller, brush or airless sprayer. For most applications, two topcoats are recommended. Apply first coat, allow to dry (4-6 hours, depending on weather) , them apply second coat. Allow new concrete to cure for 2-4 months before painting. Extremely porous surfaces may require additional coats.

Limitations:

• DO NOT APPLY when air or surface temperatures are below 30 degrees Fahrenheit, or are expected to fall there before the coating can dry.
• DO NOT APPLY when air or surface temperatures exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit or lap marking may occur.
• DO NOT APPLY to a wet or damp surface.
• DO NOT APPLY TO STAMPED CONCRETE.
• DO NOT APPLY when it may rain or if dew may condense on the surface before the paint will have a chance to dry.
• ALLOW for slow drying during cold weather or high humidity.
• RESISTANT to oil, grease, and most dilute household and pool chemicals ,however gasoline will soften If gasoline is spilled on the surface, allow it to evaporate rather than wiping it up-the coating will recover and harden.

Drying Time:

Normally dries to touch in 2-4 hours and can be walked upon after drying overnight at 75 degrees Fahrenheit. 48 hours are generally required before vehicle traffic is recommended. Low temperatures and high humidity can extend drying and curing time. Moisture and dew on the surface will halt the curing process until the surface dries. This should be taken into consideration.
